The Kontron 986LCD-M/mITX is a compact industrial and embedded Mini-ITX motherboard based on the Intel 945GM chipset with ICH7R. The board supports selected Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile, Core Duo, Core Solo and Celeron M processors and combines DDR2 memory, Intel GMA 950 graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA storage and extensive embedded I/O in a 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX form factor.

Intel Core Processor Platform

The Kontron 986LCD-M/mITX supports selected Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile, Core Duo, Core Solo and Celeron M processors. Socketed processor configurations use the mPGA478 interface, while the platform was also prepared for mBGA479 processor configurations. Supported processor architectures include Intel Yonah and Merom with front-side bus speeds of 533 or 667 MHz.

DDR2 Memory

Two 240-pin DIMM sockets support DDR2-400, DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 memory. Kontron specifies system memory configurations from 256 MB up to 3 GB, with the maximum configuration consisting of one 2 GB DIMM and one 1 GB DIMM. ECC memory is not supported.

Intel GMA 950 Graphics

The Intel 945GM chipset incorporates Intel GMA 950 graphics for embedded display applications. The motherboard supports conventional display output as well as flat-panel applications, making it suitable for operator terminals, industrial displays, medical systems and other embedded equipment requiring integrated graphics.

Storage and Embedded I/O

The Intel ICH7R provides Serial ATA storage connectivity and RAID functionality. The 986LCD-M family also provides USB 2.0, serial connectivity, IEEE 1394, High Definition Audio, Gigabit Ethernet and additional embedded interfaces for integration into industrial equipment.
