The Kontron PCI-760 is a high-performance full-size PICMG 1.3 System Host Board (SHB) designed for industrial, embedded and long-life computing applications. Based on the Intel Q35 chipset with ICH9DO, the board supports Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad desktop processors using the LGA775 socket.
The PCI-760 combines up to 8 GB DDR2 memory, Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics, PCI Express expansion, triple Gigabit Ethernet, SATA II storage, USB 2.0, serial connectivity and Intel Active Management Technology. Its PICMG 1.3 architecture allows the processor board to interface with compatible backplanes for flexible PCI Express and PCI expansion.
The Kontron PCI-760 supports Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad desktop processors using the LGA775 socket. Supported front-side bus speeds include 800, 1066 and 1333 MHz, allowing the board to accommodate a range of processor configurations for industrial and embedded applications.
Four 240-pin DIMM sockets support up to 8 GB of DDR2 SDRAM in a dual-channel configuration. The PCI-760 supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 unbuffered, non-ECC memory.
The PCI-760 uses the full-size PICMG 1.3 System Host Board architecture, allowing the processor board to connect to compatible PCI Express and PCI backplanes. A PCI Express x16 graphics interface is routed through the PICMG 1.3 edge connector for compatible expansion configurations.
This backplane-based architecture is particularly useful in industrial systems where the processor board may need to be replaced or upgraded while retaining specialized PCI and PCI Express expansion cards.
The Kontron PCI-760 provides three Gigabit Ethernet interfaces using Intel and Realtek Ethernet controllers. Multiple network interfaces make the board suitable for industrial communications, networked control systems, data acquisition and applications requiring separate network connections.
Six SATA II 3 Gb/s interfaces provide storage connectivity. The Intel ICH9DO platform supports Intel Matrix Storage Technology with RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10 configurations for compatible storage installations.
Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics provides onboard display capability with VGA resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 75 Hz. The board also provides extensive USB 2.0 connectivity, serial interfaces, parallel connectivity, High Definition Audio and optional MiniPCI expansion.
The Kontron PCI-760 is suitable for industrial automation, test and measurement, machine vision, medical imaging, simulation systems, data acquisition, manufacturing equipment, communications systems and other long-life embedded computing applications requiring a PICMG 1.3 System Host Board.
When replacing a Kontron PCI-760, verify the complete board part number, hardware revision, processor configuration, BIOS version, DDR2 memory and PICMG 1.3 backplane configuration. The installed expansion cards and PCI Express lane requirements should also be checked before substitution.
BIOS compatibility should be verified carefully because Kontron identifies different PCI-760 BIOS branches, and BIOS updates intended for one branch may not be applicable to boards using another branch.
Embedded CPU Boards supports the Kontron PCI-760 for sourcing, replacement, repair and legacy-system lifecycle support. Availability may include new-old-stock, surplus, refurbished or professionally tested units depending on current inventory.
