The IBASE IB890-R is a half-size PISA embedded CPU board designed for legacy industrial and embedded computing systems. The board features a Socket 479 processor interface supporting Intel Pentium M and Celeron M processors with a 400MHz front-side bus and uses the Intel 855GME chipset with ICH4.
The IB890-R combines up to 1GB DDR memory, Intel Extreme Graphics 2, CRT and LVDS display support, 10/100 Ethernet, CompactFlash, Mini PCI, IDE, USB 2.0, four serial ports, digital I/O and legacy industrial interfaces in a compact 186 x 129mm PISA CPU card.
The IBASE IB890-R provides a Socket 479 processor interface supporting Intel Pentium M and Celeron M processors. The platform operates with a 400MHz front-side bus and supports processor configurations up to 2.0GHz according to the original IBASE product specification.
Because the IB890-R was supplied with different compatible processors, the exact installed processor should be verified when matching a replacement board.
The IB890-R uses the Intel 855GME chipset together with the Intel ICH4 I/O Controller Hub. This embedded Intel platform provides the processor interface, DDR memory architecture, integrated graphics, IDE, USB, Ethernet and legacy I/O required by industrial systems.
One DDR DIMM socket supports up to 1GB of system memory. The DDR memory architecture provides compatibility with legacy industrial applications built around the Intel Pentium M generation.
Integrated Intel 855GME graphics provide Intel Extreme Graphics 2 technology with shared system video memory.
The IB890-R supports both analog CRT and LVDS display interfaces and can support dual-display configurations. The LVDS interface provides 18-bit dual-channel display connectivity for compatible industrial flat-panel displays.
The IB890-R provides integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet using the Intel ICH4 LAN controller with an Intel 82562ET Ethernet PHY.
This is a Fast Ethernet interface rather than Gigabit Ethernet, which is important when matching the board to an existing industrial system.
Two IDE interfaces support compatible legacy storage devices. An onboard Type II CompactFlash socket provides solid-state storage capability for embedded operating systems and industrial applications.
An onboard Mini PCI socket provides additional expansion capability for compatible communication and industrial interface modules.
The IB890-R provides four serial interfaces. Three ports support RS-232 communication, while one serial port can be configured for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 operation.
This makes the board suitable for legacy industrial systems requiring multiple serial connections to controllers, instruments, sensors and other equipment.
Three USB 2.0 interfaces are provided together with parallel, floppy, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, IrDA and digital I/O connectivity.
An integrated PCI-to-ISA bridge provides compatibility with the PISA bus architecture and legacy ISA resources used in industrial passive-backplane systems.
The IB890-R should not be confused with the related IB890-C6K-R.
For an exact replacement, verify the complete IBASE model number, processor, PCB revision, memory configuration, BIOS revision and passive backplane requirements.
The IBASE IB890-R is suitable for industrial automation, machine control, manufacturing equipment, semiconductor systems, test and measurement equipment, medical systems and other legacy embedded applications requiring a half-size PISA processor card.
Embedded CPU Boards supports the IBASE IB890-R for sourcing, replacement, repair, testing and legacy-system lifecycle support. Availability may include new-old-stock, surplus, refurbished or professionally tested units depending on current inventory.
